For most of my life, I thought if something wasn’t working, the answer was simple: fix it. Work harder. Be more disciplined. Get my sh*t together.
If I struggled, it was my responsibility to push through. And I did. Over and over again.
And to some extent, that was true—we are responsible for our own growth. But it wasn’t the whole truth.
Because we don’t exist in a vacuum.
I spent years trying to be more productive, more focused, more consistent—trying to fix something in myself that I didn’t realize wasn’t broken, just wired differently.
When I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, my entire life up until that point snapped into focus.
I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t scattered. I wasn’t undisciplined.
My brain just wasn’t built for the systems I kept forcing myself into.
And that realization was both freeing and devastating.
Because if the problem was never just me… then I had spent years fighting a battle that was never mine to win.
I can’t tell you how much time I wasted forcing myself into productivity hacks, rigid schedules, and self-imposed discipline that only made me feel like a failure. I wasn’t fighting against my own potential—I was fighting against an entire world designed for a brain that wasn’t mine.
And yet, I still blamed myself. Because that’s what we do, right?
We internalize every struggle. We think, If I was just better, more focused, more disciplined, then I wouldn’t feel like this.
We don’t stop to ask: Why does it have to be this way? Who benefits from me believing that if I just tried harder, everything would magically fall into place?
That’s when I had to face a hard truth:
I was never going to discipline my way out of being neurodivergent.
No amount of "trying harder" was going to change my brain chemistry.
I had to learn to work with myself, not against myself. And that shift changed everything.
The Shift That Needed to Happen
Because here’s the thing—so much of what we struggle with isn’t just about us.
It’s about:
The systems we live in.
The expectations we’ve inherited.
The narratives we’ve absorbed.
The rules we never agreed to but somehow feel obligated to follow.
And that’s the real problem.
So after a lot of back-and-forth, a lot of overthinking (on brand), and a lot of questioning what actually feels true, I’m making a shift.
🚨 The Problem is You is becoming Per My Last Thought. 🚨
Not because personal responsibility doesn’t matter—it does. But because so does relentlessly questioning the systems we exist in.
So does challenging the narratives we’ve been handed.
So does making room for complexity instead of blaming ourselves for things we never had control over in the first place.
This podcast will still challenge you. It will still push you to rethink everything you thought you knew.
But it’s also going to hold space for the bigger picture. For the realities we’re all navigating. For the deeper conversations that need to be had.
Because maybe the problem isn’t just you.
Maybe the system was rigged to make you think that in the first place.
If You’ve Been Struggling With This Too…
If you’ve felt like you are the issue—like you just need to try harder, be better, be more—let this be your reminder:
