So⦠I had a moment.
You know the one. That āIāve kept it together long enough, now Iām gonna cry, spiral, and maybe cuss a little while accidentally healing somethingā moment.
And of course, right after that snap, I did what any good recovering people-pleaser would do:
I questioned myself.
Did I overreact?
Was that too much?
Did I ruin something again?
But nope. I didnāt lose my mind.
I found my damn line.
I finallyĀ stopped swallowing everything Iāve been trying to regulate my way out of saying out loud.
Stopped trying to be palatable.
Stopped pretending I was fine when I was actually about six seconds from throwing my phone at the wall every time I got gaslit into thinking I was the dramatic one just for noticing a pattern.
Hereās what Iām learning:
The world doesnāt reward women for drawing boundariesāit rewards them for being easy to manage.
Be chill. Be nice. Be understanding. Be forgiving. Be āthe bigger person.ā
Translation:
Be so self-regulated that your nervous system becomes convenient for the people harming you.
But you know what? Iāve had enough.
Iām not gonna keep using breathwork and mindfulness like a sedative to calm myself out of my own truth.
You can do all the meditations in the world, and it still wonāt make being invalidated any less soul-killing.
You can do EFT, somatic tracking, inner child journalingāand still deserve to be f*cking heard when you say, āThis hurts.ā
Thereās nothing wrong with the tools.
But letās stop pretending the tools work if youāre using them to shrink yourself back into someone more tolerable.
Because if thatās what healing looks likeācalm, quiet, digestibleāthen I donāt want it.
I want healing thatās honest.
Even if itās messy. Even if itās loud. Even if it makes someone else uncomfortable.
Especially if it makes someone uncomfortable.
Because hereās the truth:
I didnāt ruin anything. I finally told the truth.
And if that makes me hard to deal with?
Good.
Iām done being easy to swallow.
š This is Chronically Honest.
A paid series for the girls who are learning to stop saying sorry for the space they take up.
Youāll get:
The raw, ranty, middle-of-a-breakthrough dispatches I wouldnāt post for the whole internet
Little audio P.S. notes that feel like a voice memo from a best friend whoās seen some shit
Notes-only reminders, reclaims, and maybe a little pettiness for balance
The exact words for the feelings youāve been gaslighting yourself out of
If this made your heart say āOh my god, finally,ā the rest is for you.
We ride at dawn.
Caffeinated. Truth unfiltered.
This time, for you.
